TEAGUES BRIDGE / PUPIL PREMIUM
Every child.
Every opportunity.
Every possibility.
At Teagues Bridge Primary School, we believe a child's circumstances should never limit their ambitions. Our Disadvantaged First Approach puts equity, inclusion and opportunity at the heart of everything we do.

Potential is everywhere. Opportunity should be too.
We work to remove barriers to learning and help each child feel valued, supported and able to achieve.
01 / THE PURPOSE
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
We recognise that disadvantage takes many forms. Our approach combines high-quality teaching, targeted support, pastoral care and wider opportunities to help every child thrive.
02 / DISADVANTAGED FIRST
Five commitments.
One shared ambition.
These principles guide how we identify barriers, support pupils and work with families.
01 — EQUITY
Champion equity.
Identify and address gaps in attainment, access and opportunity.
02 — TARGETED SUPPORT
Provide the right support.
Deliver high-quality teaching, pastoral care and enrichment tailored to individual needs.
03 — INCLUSION
Foster inclusion.
Create a welcoming school culture where every child feels safe, valued and empowered.
04 — PARTNERSHIP
Work with families.
Build positive partnerships that strengthen learning and wellbeing beyond the classroom.
05 — PROGRESS
Measure what matters.
Monitor progress rigorously, evaluate the impact of our strategies and adapt support as children's needs evolve.
03 / OUR GRADUATED RESPONSE
A clear pathway
to better outcomes.
We use a graduated approach to recognise needs early, plan additional support and review the impact. The process is collaborative, involving school staff, parents and carers, and other professionals where appropriate.
IDENTIFY
Recognise needs and remove barriers.
When a child is identified as disadvantaged, they are added to the disadvantaged list and our Disadvantaged First Approach is implemented. Staff ensure consistent, high-quality first teaching and provision through the universal offer. The child's progress and support needs are reviewed, with early help strategies identified where necessary.
DISCUSS
Bring the right people together.
Where concerns arise about progress, attainment or growing pastoral needs, the class teacher, Pupil Premium lead, SENCo and parents discuss the child's needs. If support beyond the universal offer is required, additional strategies and resources are planned and provided.
ASSESS & REVIEW
Understand what is working.
Regular assessments evaluate the impact of additional support and early help through the Plan, Do, Review cycle. Where progress remains limited, the class teacher, Pupil Premium lead, SENCo and parents discuss next steps, including potential SEND support or an early help assessment.
PERSONALISE
Plan provision around the child.
Personalised provision is planned, recorded on class and whole-school provision maps, and regularly reviewed. Adjustments are made in response to the child's changing needs and progress.
Early help reviews: Where an early help assessment has been completed, support planning meetings take place every 6–8 weeks with clear action plans and reviews.
SEEK EXPERTISE
Access additional expertise.
Where appropriate, and where progress remains a concern despite targeted support, additional help from external agencies is sought to provide the most suitable package of support for the pupil.
CONTINUE SUPPORT
Review and plan the next steps.
For children still making little or no progress despite targeted intervention, further discussions take place with parents about additional support. This may involve the inclusive school forum or an Education, Health and Care Plan. Where appropriate, requests are submitted by the school in partnership with parents.
Support is a continuous process.
We listen, assess, adapt and work in partnership with families to make sure provision remains appropriate and effective.
04 / INVESTING IN LEARNING
Where our focus lies.
Our Pupil Premium strategy brings together three areas of support.
01 / TEACHING
Great teaching for every child.
Strengthening classroom teaching, professional development, assessment and the foundations of reading, writing and mathematics.
02 / ACADEMIC SUPPORT
Extra help when it matters.
Providing focused interventions and additional academic support to address identified gaps in learning.
