Base 7 - The Beluga Whales

Hello and welcome to Base 7’s page! Our class teacher is Miss Jones and our amazing teaching assistants Mrs Whitehouse and Miss Chahal.

In Base 7, we like to enjoy learning and always make sure to try our best. We make sure we ‘beelieve in ourselves’ and work together to achieve our targets. Children are encouraged to explore their passions and foster a love for learning mentality.

The aim of our Base 7 page is to provide you with an insight into all the fun learning we have been doing in the classroom. On the website you will be able to access information regarding; Base 7’s weekly homework, topics we are currently studying in class, our times table focus and spellings.

Reading is a huge focus at Teagues Bridge Primary School. We encourage the children to read their reading book along with books that spark their interest- this can all be recorded in their reading diary.

We hope that you have found this information useful, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Base 7 team. Alternatively, you can email us at base7.teaguesbridge@taw.org.uk

Value of the Month

The value of the month is Equality. Base 7 have been developing their understanding of equality and the importance of being respectful of others.  Within class we have discussed the importance of celebrating differences within school and community.

Respect is the most important value at Teagues Bridge as every child must feel respected and safe within school. Every month we will have a values champion who will be announced by Mrs Abdulla in assembly.

Along with this, we are focusing on Spain as our flag of the month!

Term Theme

This term our topic is called Trade and Economics

Throughout this topic, the children will focus on answering the questions ‘Is international trade a good thing? Why is trade so important?’ Belugas will learn about the three different types of production and the main imports and exports from the UK. The children will learn about the location of El Salvador in relation to the UK and the impact of globalisation on trade within the world. The children will go on to learn about the importance of Fair Trade and where the UK gets the energy from to power our homes.

Our love to read book this term is ‘Street Child’ by Berlie Doherty. The children have expressed their excitement to read this book. Each day we will read a quality picture book in our reading for pleasure sessions, which all children look forward to at the end of the day.

In Science, Base 7 will be learning about the human life cycle and about the changes of the body during puberty. They learn about the development of a baby during pregnancy and about the birth of a baby.

This Week's Homework

It is important that your child is reading at home at least four times a week, this helps them with all of their learning throughout school. Please can reading books and records be brought into school each day.

Children will have homework every week. Homework will be handed out on a Wednesday and needs to be completed by Wednesday. If you require a paper copy of the homework, please let Miss Jones know.

Base 7 have PE on Monday and a Friday. Children need to come into school in their full school uniform as normal. Please ensure that all of your child’s clothing has their name in to ensure that it does not get misplaced.

Please practise your times tables. There are lots of websites online to support this. The children need to be logging on the Times Table Rockstar's to support their learning . If you need any additional resources please feel free to come for a chat
