Base 7

Hello and welcome to Base 7’s page! Our class teacher is Miss Jones and our amazing teaching assistant Mrs Whitehouse.

In Base 7 we like to enjoy learning and always make sure to try our best. We make sure we ‘beelieve in ourselves’ and work together to achieve our targets. Children are encouraged to explore their passions and foster a love for learning mentality.

The aim of our Base 7 page is to provide you with an insight into all the fun learning we have been doing in the classroom. On the website you will be able to access information regarding; Base 7’s weekly homework, topics we are currently studying in class, our times table focus and spellings.

Reading is a huge focus at Teagues Bridge Primary School. We encourage the children to read their reading book along with books that spark their interest- this can all be recorded in their reading diary.

We hope that you have found this information useful, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Base 7 team. Alternatively, you can email us at base7.teaguesbridge@taw.org.uk

Value of the Month

The value of the month is Self-control. Base 7 have been developing their understanding of self-control and the importance of being respectful of others.  Within class we have discussed the importance of self-control and the importance of respectful acts within school. Every month we will have a values champion who will be announced by Mrs Abdulla in assembly.

Along with this, we are focusing on India as our flag of the month!

Term Theme

This term our topic is called Ancient Arts

This half term, Base 7 will focus on Ancient Greece. Base 7 will learn how Greece was divided into city states (polis) and two of the most well-known city states are Athens and Sparta. In Athens, Greek styles of art, architecture, philosophy, and theatre were developed and how these helped shape our modern society. Also, Base 7 will learn about the first Olympic games. Base 7, will identify this historical period on a chronological timeline and explore a range of sources to gather information about this period of history. Throughout the topic the children will use a range of historical sources within their learning.

Our love to read book this term is ‘Why the whales came’ by Michael Morpurgo. The children have expressed their excitement to read this book. Each day we will read a quality picture book in our reading for pleasure sessions, which all children look forward to at the end of the day.

This term, Base 7 will be focusing on Sound. Base 7 will be able to identify how sounds are made, associating some of them with something vibrating, recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear. Also, Base 7 will find patterns between the pitch of a sound and features of the object that produced it, find patterns between the volume of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it. Base 7 will also recognise that sounds get quieter as the distance from the sound source increases.
