Base 3

Hello I am Mrs Mackenzie and I welcome everyone to Base 3’s page! The Teaching Assistants in class are Mrs Jones and Mrs Garrett.  We believe that learning should always be fun and engaging and we ensure that all lessons are accessible for all children. Base 3 is full of smiles and laughter so come and join us here to see what we have been learning about during the theme this term.

Each week your child will receive a new reading book and a book to share with you from the reading corner.  We will also be using bug club. Please remind your child to bring in their reading diary every Friday because I will read with the children on a weekly basis and children will be using bug club while in school. We also check the reading diaries to make sure your child is reading three times a week at home.

Please ensure that the children bring their PE kits in every Monday and take them home every Friday so they are able to be ready for the following week. Please clearly label all of the children’s PE kit to stop any confusion.

In Base 3, P.E is on a Thursday afternoon.

If at any time, you need to contact me please write a note in the communication diary or email on the base log in: base3.teaguesbridge@taw.org.uk

Value of the Month

The Value of the Month this month is ‘Courage’.

Term Theme

In literacy this half term we will be reading and writing poems on a theme. The theme for our poetry is all about rollercoasters. We will read a range of different poems based around rollercoasters to understand the vocabulary that is used as well as understanding that not all poetry rhymes. Pupils will then write their own poems based around the roundabout theme.

This half term will be focusing on time and position and direction. Pupils will learn half past, o'clock, quarter past and quarter to as well as telling the time to 5 minute intervals. In position and direction, pupils will learn left, right, up, down, quarter turns, anti-clockwise and clockwise.

Our science topic is ‘Habitats'. Pupils will learn about an animals natural habitat and all about minibeasts. Pupils will learn about MRS GREN and how to distinguish between, alive, dead and never alive and all the things we need to keep us alive.
